About Us

Situated on the harbourfront in Stromness, Orkney's gateway port, the Ferry Inn provides an ideal base for business or leisure stays, great all day food and a cracking community bar. Don't confuse us with The Ferry Inn in Scrabster.....that's on the other side of the Pentland Firth on the Scottish mainland.....another great little harbour inn....but it's not in Orkney!

An award winning traditional harbourfront inn, we have in the past been selected as Best Pub/Bar in the Highlands & Islands Tourism Awards, for a number of years we have been the county winner for the National Pub & Bar Awards, and we are well recognised by CAMRA. All at the Ferry Inn take a great pride in what we do.

For over 30 years ‘the Ferry' has served as one of Orkney's must-visit pubs, playing a full part in the daily life of the town and host to the variety of events and festivals held throughout the year. Now with 20 en-suite rooms The Ferry Inn is also the place to stay.

Whether Folk, Blues or Science is your thing or Sea Angling, Scuba Diving or Sailing, whether its Shopping Week, the Shows or New Year, The Ferry is the place to be.

Under the Management of Karen and Gareth Crichton, who also own and operate The Royal Hotel in Stromness, what was always a good pub, now boasts an excellent restaurant with local seafood specials and clean, comfortable and ‘connected' rooms for business or holiday stays.

Harbourside House serves as a Annex to The Ferry Inn, just twenty yards across the street, the rooms are spacious, relatively quiet, wifi connected and set up for business or leisure visitors.
