At The Ferry we are enthusiastic supporters of live music. As we move through summer our Trad sessions continue every other Saturday night from 8pm in the Lounge at The Royal with our Sunday Folk and Americana sessions on the alternate weekends from 2-5pm. These provide an informal setting for local and visiting musicians and appreciative audiences to come together for toe-tapping tunes and plenty of laughs. Of course we are already looking forward to the Blues festival which having moved from its traditional end of season slot is now the season opener scheduled for 23-26 April. It can't come soon enough. Then there's the Folk Festival at the end of May, Shopping Week, the shows and Orktoberfest...... plenty to look forward to.

The Orkney Blues Festival in April, Orkney Folk Festival at the end of May, Stromness Shopping Week in July, and Orktoberfest are highlights but this year we have a fortnightly trad session hosted by Jenny Wrigley and Laurence Wilson and through the winter a fortnightly Folk and Americana session on Sunday afternoons hosted by local legends, Stoatfinger. Come along, join in or just relax with a glass..

Visiting players will be welcomed and there will always be a guitar, fiddle, uke or mandolin for those away from home but prepared to pick up an instrument and join in – or start off – a session.
