At The Ferry we are enthusiastic supporters of live music and through the winter season offer the bar as a venue for musicians to showcase their skills and for folk to come together to enjoy informal sessions.

The Orkney Folk Festival at the end of May, Stromness Shopping Week in July, the Orkney Blues Festival in September and Orktoberfest are highlights but working alongside the Royal Hotel for the 2024 season we are promoting a fortnightly folk session (alternate Saturdays from 8pm in the Hudson Lounge) and a monthly Sunday Folk and Americana session courtesy of local group 'Stoatfinger' and friends.

Visiting players will be welcomed and there will always be a guitar, fiddle or mandolin for those away from home but prepared to pick up an instrument and join in – or start off – a session.
